Speaking poetry when words have failed me
Just a quick post about a poem written by my friend Idil. It came to me at a time when I was feeling frustrated, pessimistic about anything to do with Somalia. This poem taught me I had no right to despair when those have back home haven't done so.
Bravery is the man with no armour
who goes forth like his skin
is made of iron.
She has the sort of depth and sincerity that seems to come effortlessly to the gifted. She is one of the most talented young (Somali) artists I have met.
